Carving out some time from a busy schedule of painting world leaders, former US president George W Bush has taken the Ice Bucket challenge, helping to raise money for motor neurone disease.
Mr Bush, sitting at an outdoor table, tells the camera he had received challenges from his daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, and golfer Rory McIlroy, among others.
"To all who challenged me, I do not think it's presidential for me to be splashed with ice water," he said. "So I'm simply going to write you a cheque."
But lurking with a large bucket is former first lady Laura Bush, who promptly douses her husband.
"That cheque is for me; I don't want to ruin my hairstyle," she says.
US President Barack Obama declined the challenge, donating $US100 to charity instead, but another former president, Bill Clinton, could be in line for a blast.
"Now it's my privilege to challenge my friend Bill Clinton to the ALS challenge," a dripping Mr Bush said. "Yesterday was Bill's birthday and my gift to Bill is a bucket of cold water."
In Australia, Prime Minister Tony Abbott is yet to confirm whether he will consent to a drenching after he was challenged by Parliamentary Secretary Josh Frydenberg.
