Thousands of full rubbish bins will soon be emptied, with disrupted waste management services expected to resume on Friday (August 22).
Rubbish collections across parts of Australia, including many West Australian local government areas, were halted due to the fleet shutdown of Transpacific, one of Australia's largest waste management companies.
The decision to recall and inspect all of its trucks, including those of its subsidiary Cleanaway, came after one of its trucks smashed into three stationary cars waiting at traffic lights in Adelaide on Monday afternoon, killing two people.
On Friday morning Transpacific confirmed that rubbish collection services across the country would resume throughout the day.
Local government authorities in Perth and regional WA have been affected, including Joondalup, Mandurah, Murray, Rockingham, South Perth, Kalgoorlie, Belmont, Bassendean, Victoria Park, Bayswater, East Fremantle, Mundaring ,Gosnells and Armadale.
