THE Perth Wildcats are gearing up to play in the South West with pre-season clashes in Waroona and Margaret River.
The reigning National Basketball League champions will meet the league’s newest franchise, Melbourne United, in what is sure to be an exciting preview of what to expect from two of the competition’s biggest clubs in the upcoming season.
The game will take place at the Waroona Recreation and Aquatic Centre on September 26 with tip-off at 6pm.
The two teams will then meet in Margaret River on Sunday, September 28 before a third and final clash at the WA Basketball Centre in Perth on the Queen’s Birthday public holiday on Monday, September 29.
Perth Wildcats managing director Nick Marvin said he is pleased to be able to bring elite basketball to regional WA.
“We want the whole of WA to get behind the Perth Wildcats,” he said.
“While this series is about fine-tuning ahead of the NBL season, it is also about state pride and we are really looking forward to heading into the South West.
Mr Marvin said the Wildcats would also be taking their community program on the road.
“Sport is an important part of culture in regional WA so we hope the local community get behind us and show its support,” he said.
Fans will have the opportunity to meet the players from both teams and get autographs following each game.
Bunbury fans will have the added bonus of seeing home town talent and former-Australian Boomer Mark Worthington playing in the Melbourne side.
