THE Margaret River Farmers' Market faced its first challenge at the new TAFE venue on Saturday when heavy rain caused a mud bath for marketgoers.
And while the slushy paddock crawling with worms proved a delight for children and hardy lovers of all things winter, some were less than impressed.
Posting on the Augusta Margaret River Mail's Facebook page, Bill Adams said the market had lost its appeal in the new location, describing the mud and slush as a "cow paddock".
"My wife and I won't be back," Mr Adams said.
But market manager Katrina Lombardo said she was extremely grateful for the patronage and support the market had received on such a wet, wintry day.
"We thank everyone for being understanding that the paddock is as seasonal as the produce at the market," Ms Lombardo said.
"There are a few issues to work through at the new venue and we hope people will work with us as we deal with them.
"People who live in Margaret River are used to the rain and mud of winter and know that before long things will dry out and the sun will shine again."
