LEGENDARY musician Neil Finn will headline a one-off concert with Gurrumul and Megan Washington as part of Margaret River’s three-day Gourmet Escape festival in November.
Sandalford Estate, Wilyabrup, will host the outdoor concert on the evening of Saturday, November 22.
Tickets will start at $95 and Sandalford will donate all net profits from its own income on the night to Telethon.
In another new event, scheduled for Friday evening at the Margaret River Cultural Centre, chef Matt Preston and writer and critic A.A. Gill will play quizmasters to find the world’s most knowledgeable foodie at the Gourmet Food Trivia Night. Guests will include Heston Blumenthal and Rick Stein.
Organisers said the event would be a chance for the public to test their knowledge of the food scene with subjects including famous foodie films, well-known dishes, celebrated TV chefs, delicacies, spices and grape varieties.
Also announced for the Saturday night was the Farm, Forage, Graze dinner at Clairault Streicker Wines.
Famous foraging chefs - Australia’s Matt Stone and Sweden’s Daniel Berlin - will team up to produce shared tasting plates using locally foraged foods.
In his own Restaurant Daniel Berlin, the Swedish chef uses only produce from his local rural community.
Other new events include Kambarang - The South West Aboriginal Gourmet Experience – where renowned indigenous chef Mark Olive will lead hospitality apprentices from the Outback Academy to create contemporary international cuisine with a feast of bush flavours.
The Friday lunch event will be held at the South West Institute of Technology, Margaret River.
Tickets for the Neil Finn concert and all new events will go on sale at 11 am, Tuesday September 9.
