Margaret River’s artisan food business Delicious World has taken out a swag of medals at the IGA Royal Perth Show – after only a year in business.
Growing up in Ireland with a fruit horticulture background, Austin Donnelly’s move to Margaret River sparked an urge to make the most of the local produce.
Delicious World now makes a range of small-batch jams, sauces and relishes.
“I had some recipes up my sleeve so having access to beautiful fresh produce here it was a natural progression to come up with some tasty new recipes,” Mr Donnelly said.
“Having lots of requests from friends and family for “more jam” led to developing Delicious World into the small artisan business it is today”.
With wife Laura Cox, Mr Donnelly’s business produced gold medals for red capsicum jam and barbecue sauce.
They also received a silver medal for a sweet chilli and kaffir lime sauce, with a high commendation for their red capsicum and chilli jam.
The pair was encouraged to enter this year’s Perth show after winning gold medals at last year’s Margaret River and Busselton agricultural shows.
With their products now in several local stores, the business is hoping its latest success will encourage local restaurants to show interest.
