WHAT makes your heart sing?
Augusta resident Judy Meagher posed this question to nearly every person she met last year.
She also phoned family members, emailed friends and handed out flyers to strangers, until she had collected enough of people's most beautiful and inspiring thoughts to make a book.
Inspiration South West is Meagher's way of giving back to her community. Filled with photos, stories and inspirational quotes, the book shares the differing passions of many individuals across the region.
People told Meagher about their adopted son; about climbing a mountain in Africa; about the birds in their backyard, and more.
"One lady volunteers to sit with a baby for an hour every week just sit and hold them to see how much they change over time," Meagher said.
Diana Menzie, the volunteer in question, writes in the book: "People are the reason I love life.
"To be able to spend even an hour with someone, who I have never met before and may never meet again, brings meaning to my life."
For Meagher, the book is a creative experiment that blossomed beyond expectations.
"I went to every bookshop I could find, and couldn't see anything like it," she said.
"I'm deeply touched by all those who contributed and assisted.
"My dream is that people who read this book [find] their hearts will sing."
Further spreading the positive energy, Meagher will donate profits from the book to various charities elected by each person who contributed.
Inspiration South West is available for $20 from the Augusta and Margaret River visitor centres, Au gus ta Newsagency, Mar ga ret River Bookshop, Leeuwin Lighthouse, and the caves.
