Inspired by the winery, the work of Ms Giroud is already reflective of the mood of the venue in her soon to be exhibited series.
Mainly working in textiles, but experimenting with oil and landscape themes for the works, Ms Giroud said the atmosphere of the winery was a huge influence.
“Spring and the beautiful rose gardens at Laurance inspired the works,” Ms Giroud said.
Event manager for Laurance Wines Sami Noakes said the artwork of Ms Giroud embraced the themes within Laurance Wines entirely.
“She was inspired when she came here,” Ms Noakes said,
“Diane (Laurance) is behind a lot of local women’s charities and Ms Giroud was more than happy to become involved.”
Ms Giroud, a former dean of curriculum in Perth said that throughout her education career the plight of women has always been close to her heart, so donating to the Zonta Club upon the suggestion of Laurance Wines was not a stretch.
Ms Giroud said that of the 70% of women involved in education, only 30% make up the administrative sector.
“I’ve always tried through my career to encourage women to reach for the stars,” she said.
Zonta Clubs are heavily involved in community projects that seek to promote the equality of women in society, including political equality, economic self-sufficiency, accessibility to education and health services as well as eliminating violence against women.
Laurance Wines of Margaret River will be hosting the work of Jeanette Giroud in the cellar from October 6 to 19 during the cellar hours.
