YALLINGUP Boardriders celebrated their maiden victory at The Surf Boardroom Surf League in Perth on the weekend.
The club bumped traditional event favourites, Margaret River Boardriders and Trigg Point, out of the picture to win with 89.5 points.
Geraldton Boardriders were second with 88.0 , while Trigg Point and Margaret River had to settle for third and fourth place respectively, with Trigg Point finishing on a combined total of 81.1 to Margaret River's 79.8.
The Yallingup team included Jake Paterson, Jay Davies, Dan Waddell, Brody Maclean, Kael Walsh and Duke Nagtzaam, while Margaret River competed with Jacob Willcox, Jethro Hedstrom, Josh Burke, Jerome Forrest, Dave Delroy-Carr and Andrew Sheridan.
"I can't believe this, it's unreal," said Yallingup’s 'power surfer' Jay Davies. "We've never done that well at this event in the past, but to win ahead of some quality opposition with a bunch of your best mates makes this whole thing pretty sweet."
Margaret River still walked home with a $400 prize, while the Yallingup club scored $1200.
The Surf League is Western Australia’s longest-running tag team surfing event.
