A GLEN IRIS man has been fined $1200 and had his licence suspended for six months after pleaded guilty to driving recklessly.
On August 16, a speed camera detected Nathan Rees Morgan travelling at 154 kilometres an hour in a 90 kilometre an hour zone on Bussell Highway.
Rees, 20, was stopped by police on Norton Promenade in Dalyellup and had his Holden Commodore impounded for 28 days.
Appearing in the Bunbury Magistrates Court on Friday, the heavy duty mechanic apprentice pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle at more than 45 kilometres an hour over the speed limit.
Magistrate Kelvin Fisher told Rees he was a young man with a new car, a big engine and a heavy foot.
“At that speed lamp posts must look like a picket fence,” Magistrate Fisher said.
In sentencing, Magistrate Fisher took into account the offence was the first Rees had committed and granted him a spent conviction.
