Margaret River and Gracetown surfers shone at the recent Ripcurl GromSearch WA surfing competition this past weekend.
Held at Trigg Beach on Sunday October 12, immaculate conditions left the path clear for the local surfers to eat up the score board.
Gracetown’s Bailee Hastie was a standout performer, taking out the Girls under 16 category in the competition.
Winning her first Rip Curl GromSearch title, Hastie edged out the competition with a competitive final combined score of 12.57 (out of 20).
“I’ve had a great time at this event and couldn’t be happier with this win,” said Hastie.
“I’m going to try my luck at the Sunshine Coast GromSearch event in December which is exciting.”
The event saw a number of young competitors displaying their skills, with Seth van Haeften of Margaret River winning the under 12 boys division.
Margaret River’s Fin Cox took out the ‘Firewire Performance Award’ after scoring the events only perfect ten in an impressive display that left him with a combined score of 19.17 (out of 20).

To add to the overwhelming amount of local achievement, Gracetown’s April McPherson and Jed Graddisen were awarded the ‘Shapers Fins/Surf Life Rising Star Award’ for the best up and coming surfers at the event.
Margaret River’s Jamaica Selby was also able to land a bronze position in the under 14 girls category.
Yallingup boys Kael Walsh and Josh Cattlin stole the show, both putting on a performance that saw them take out the under 16 and under 14 boys categories.
