To top off a busy year local artist Sarmarie is finishing 2014 in style.
Spending the year working with the Mantra Hotel in Brisbane, exhibiting at The Design Made Trade in Sydney and creating sell out shows in Perth, it was time for something closer to home.
For the month of October Sarmarie has created a collection of works to display on and off the wall at the Goanna Gallery.
“You just have to follow your heart, see what happens and keep smiling.”
- Sarmarie
The work explores nature as an ever evolving landscape, with a strong focus being placed on the elements of the sky, short lived but filled with wondrous expression.
Sarmarie uses wood and art papers to bring her concepts to life, creating a lasting impression on an audience.
Saramarie said that to continue the life of an artist it involved a huge amount of patience, yet the rewards for perseverance were outstanding.
“Having a dream is one thing, but chasing after it and then catching it is another,” Sarmarie said.
“It requires an unbelievable amount of self belief to paint, create, come up with new ideas and have no clue whether the public will view your work as icky, appealing or fall totally and utterly in love.
“You just have to follow your heart, see what happens and keep smiling.”
The exhibition runs until November 6 at Goanna Gallery.
