A Margaret River student is the state winner in the History Teachers’ prize in the National History Challenge.
Natashea Lingam, a Gifted and Talented Online student was selected as a state finalist for the award for her essay on her chosen topic of the Chinese in the Goldfields, written to reflect the competition’s Changing Perspectives theme.
The essay expressed how modern day Australia has changed in its views and perspectives toward multiculturalism in comparison to the treatment of migrants in the early 19th century.
Miss Lingam was presented with her award at a ceremony on October 25 at St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls in Perth.
