It is that time of the year when music groups from Margaret River Primary School take to the stage at Settlers to compete against each other in a battle of the bands.
This opportunity allows students to have real world performance experiences thanks to support from the community according to music teacher Helen Collis.
The gig will be opened by local opera singer Paul Simon before the bands will kick into action.
“We have fantastic, generous, committed band coaches: Tony Lane, Mike Goodwin, Graeme Smailles and Noah Shilkin from our community who come to MRPS each week to work with the students,” Ms Collis said.
“Karen and Rob Gough from Settlers Tavern are simply amazing. Year after year they generously donate funds, which enhance our music program and what we can offer to our amazing students here at MRPS.”
Ms Collis also said none of this would happen without the support of the school, staff and parents.
With the last battle of the bands having standing room only, it’s worth getting down early to see the students perform for the community.
The set runs from 5-7pm at Settlers on November 5.
