LOCAL artist Kay Gibson has created a new exhibition that highlights the birdlife of the South West.
A Brush with Birds celebrates native birds and exhibits the role of fire in sustaining the bio diversity of South West forests.
For the new series Gibson has experimented with unique materials to convey this relationship.
Embossing hahnemuhle paper with native flora, using the fumage method along with smoke and burning from a candle has enabled Gibson to create unique images for patrons to enjoy by linking elements together.
“My art aims to celebrate the natural world and in a way to advocate for its importance and preservation,” Gibson said.
Opening night is November 15 from 6-8pm.
The exhibition will run at Jahroc Gallery in Margaret River until December 6.
