FORMED five years ago, the now solid line up of Dallas Royal has big plans in motion for the South West.
With plans to support The Beards this New Years Eve, perform an acoustic set alongside the Black Seeds and be the right hand band to Delta Riggs on their upcoming tour, the Dunsborough based group won’t be pausing for a breath until the new year.
“We’ve learnt something every show we’ve played,” vocalist Mitch Baker said.
For those not in the know, an odd merging of Soundgarden, Queens of the Stone Age, Audioslave and much more are the most similar comparisons the group can draw on to describe their sound.
“It’s hard for us to label what we actually are,” Baker said.
Baker added the group’s location has enabled them to take advantage of opportunities supporting big name acts that would most likely not occur over east.
“Over here we’re a good sized fish in a little pond,” he said.
“We get national tour offers here which we wouldn’t necessarily be offered if we lived in Melbourne.”
Baker said given the right opportunity the band could one day change their outlook on remaining WA based.
“We’re not going to cast off the prospect of moving to turn a passion into a career,” he said.
“Dunsborough is home for us.”
The next gig Dallas Royal will fit into their busy schedule is an acoustic set at the Halloween Ball at Clancy’s Fish Pub in Dunsborough this weekend.
