THE Margaret River region has been picked to host a top travel trade event.
The Ni hao WA is Tourism Western Australia's premier trade event for Chinese travel buyers.
Ni hao WA will take place at Aravina Estate winery in March next year, the first time it is to be held in a WA regional area.
The event aims to strengthen business relationships with key buyers and raise the profile of WA as a tourism destination.
Augusta Margaret River Tourism Association's chief executive Pip Close said she was delighted with the outcome.
"Ni hao is an extremely well-regarded travel trade event and we would like to thank Tourism WA for inviting us to be the first regional host destination," Ms Close said.
"This event provides a lucrative opportunity to showcase the spectacular Margaret River region.
"The timing is excellent, opening up further opportunities with China for our local economy."
