Cate Blanchett is already a legend. She is even more so for managing the rare task of being a legend without having a skerrick of diva.
In fact, the 45-year-old Oscar-winning actress and Giorgio Armani muse admits to being intimidated by the "mummy mafia" at her son's school.
"You know [the other mums] are observing how you parent," she tells Porter magazine in its new issue, out on Friday.
"They don't know how you cram everything in to make space for your kids like any working parent"
The mum of Dashiell, 12, Roman, 10, and Ignatius, 6, is currently filming Truth in Sydney alongside Robert Redford.
While this might be not be your average day job, she says other aspects of her life are absolutely ordinary.
"We're really boring," she insists.
And despite having an estimated net worth of $45 million, the Hollywood star says she doesn't have hired help.
"They assume you have a nanny and a driver and a chef. Who gives a s--- whether I do or not?" says Blanchett, who has been married to Sydney Theatre Company boss Andrew Upton, 48, for 17 years.
"Playing the lead in a film where you shoot for three months away from home is not an easy thing for me when my children are in school and my husband is running a theatre company.
"The fact is I don't, but you know there is a certain circle of people - and we all get insecure - who then ask, 'Why can't she brush her hair?' You just have to shrug that off."
In the interview, Blanchett continues in her fabulously forthright style bestowing praise on Emma Watson for her "game-changing" UN speech on gender equality this year.
"I was so f---ing proud of Emma Watson's speech at the UN," she tells the magazine.
"It was brilliant, such an incredible use of her airspace, and really passionate. It was fantastic."
As for the threats Watson received, from hackers after the speech, to release nude photos of the Harry Potter star, Blanchett said: "It's horrendous. But there's hope.
"There are a lot of things happening in an international sphere, and there are enough women with enough clout to make those shifts happen.
"Enough is enough. And I hope the Emma Watsons of this world are going to say, 'F--- it'."
