WEST Australian blues and roots artist Toby promises to be more than just your average singer.
Renowned for her powerhouse live performances, Toby moves through each set exhibiting her lyrical talent and dynamic vocals.
Toby has been described as passionate, raw, powerful and fun with a hint of gypsy hick.
Toby plays a mixture of soul, rock, folk and blues, inspired by her WA upbringing, yet has notable influences from Canada, the USA and Europe, in particular the Netherlands where her mother is from.
With five albums, two live DVDs and several EPs, Toby has a bountiful supply of content to show an audience, to say the least, with it being rare for her to spend time in any one location, causing diverse and expansive song content.
Toby’s newest album Nobody told Me was recorded in Seattle under the watchful eye of producer Ryan Hadlock, known for his work with The Lumineers along with an all star instrumental cast all making appearances through out the work.
The album is attributed to a few life affirming years for the artist, with the songs reflecting Toby’s thoughts on her years on the road, travel, love, dreams and utmost, independence.
The album will be released in early 2015 but you can catch a preview at Settlers Tavern on Saturday, December 6 and Sunday December 7 for an acoustic performance.
