DREAMS of entering into the world of film may be fulfilled this summer when Myles Pollard introduces his acting program to the South West.
Mr Pollard, known for his roles on McLeod's Daughters, Underbelly and in particular the film Drift, will be bringing his acting for camera courses down south to prepare locals for future careers in the industry.
After the filming of Drift, Mr Pollard noted the immense amount of local talent and, with more projects looking to be filmed in the area, now seemed the best time to prepare and create a database of creative talent to call upon.
"There's a lot of support in the region for creativity, it can help drive the economy; in particular it is good for tourism," Pollard said.
Mr Pollard will be operating his acting for camera workshops based around the skills he has gained over twenty years as an actor, exhibiting how to recreate a sense of simple, authentic engagement with another actor.
"We play games and workshops, scenarios and working in partners, a lot is scripted and some improvised," Mr Pollard said,
"It's naturalism acting you expect on TV and film, sincere and believable."
With multiple courses on offer, from a four day acting intensive for teenagers and another for adults, as well as a one day camera introduction course for teenagers and another for children, everyone has the ability to become involved.
Workshops will be held at the South West Institute of Technology, Bussell Highway.
Booking is essential as class numbers are limited.
The courses will run in late January, for more information visit mylespollard.com.au or email actinglessons@mylespollard.com.au.
