Update, January 26, 10.16am:
Three homes, a large haystack and one hundred head of cattle have been saved from the fire in Forest Grove.
The Department of Fire and Emergency services reported the fire was contained and under control by Monday morning.
There is no threat to lives or homes but there is some smoke in the area.
People should remain alert in case the situation changes.
Update, January 25, 5.45pm: There are now 90 volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and Bush Fire Service firefighters on the scene.
Firefighters are protecting homes and working to contain the fire.
The fire has been said to be moving fast in a north-westerly direction.
Original report, January 25, 4.56pm:
A WATCH and Act has been issued for people near Forest Grove in the Shire of Augusta Margaret River.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services issued the warning at 4.33pm on Sunday, after local residents noticed smoke in the area.
The fire is burning on the southern side of Forest Grove Road, near the intersection of Drummond Road.
Forest Grove Road has been closed and 40 firefighters are on the scene. Water bomber aircraft have also been deployed.
According the warning, the bushfire was headed in a north-westerly direction and was unpredictable.
"You need to leave or get ready to actively defend," the DFES warning stated.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
