YOUNG Margaret River apprentice chef Ock Hee Lee has been selected as one of 32 finalists for the Fonterra Proud to be a Chef 2015 mentor ship program.
Selected from around Australia, the finalists will compete in the competition designed to publicly recognise and reward the dedication of these up and coming chefs.
As a part of the program they will attend three days of master classes presented by world class chefs and industry experts.
Currently working at Vasse Felix, Ms Lee said she couldn’t wait to meet and learn from the mentor chefs.
“I applied to Fonterra’s Proud to be a Chef since it is such a remarkable, unique opportunity to foster my career as a chef,” she said.
The all expenses paid trip to Melbourne will see Ms Lee dine at award winning restaurants, hone her skills and meet some of Australia’s best in the food business.
Each finalist will create their own dish and work with a food photographer to see the meal and recipe published for mass use.
The top apprentice chef will win $7,500 to spend on an international culinary placement.
Ms Lee will attend the program from February 23 to 26.
