A WINDSURFER has complained the stairs at Surfers Point create a daily struggle for many people carrying their sports gear.
Bec Pott snapped a photo of a windsurfer holding their board and sail up high above the stairs’ barriers.
“Whoever designed the stairs didn’t consider the windsurfing community, who sail Mainbreak every afternoon if conditions are good,” she said.
“The wooden posts go way above the safety rail.”
Ms Pott said she spent a day watching each windsurfer struggle up and down the stairs.
Shire of Augusta Margaret River’s director of infrastructure services, Johan Louw said the Shire had been in discussion with windsurfers and would look at some options in the future.
