Police are hunting a man who attempted to abduct a four-year-old boy who was using play equipment on the grounds of Swan Districts Hospital in Middle Swan on Friday.
At about midday the man approached the boy and attempted to walk away with him before the child's mother intervened, a WA Police spokesperson said.
The man was last seen running towards Great Northern Highway and Toodyay Road.
He has been described as being in his 50s, with a tanned complexion, of solid build with a paunch, approximately 180cms tall, with short shaved brown greying hair and wearing glasses with a dark heavy frame.
He was wearing a blue or black t-shirt with a white tiger on the front, dark coloured tight jeans and desert boots.
Police are appealing for the public's help, and have conducted extensive patrols of the area.
They said the incident served as a reminder to parents to supervise and stay close to young children when in open public places.
