“IT’S art on the inside and art on the outside.”
The words of Colonial Brewery’s manager Richard Moroney summarised the latest contribution to the Emergence Creative Festival, a beverage that is visually unique to the event alone.
Through the contribution of two emergence artists Ian Mutch and Dune Hagger, a design has been created that symbolises the mood of the festival approaching this weekend, being wrapped around the cans of the brewery’s own Small Ale.
“The art was there, the guys were there,” Mr Moroney said.
“For me, it’s giving these guys another medium to get their art out there.”
The introduction of cans to Colonial Brewery is a new concept, let alone the new design that acts as a reflection of the different minded individuals who will assemble to take part in the creative event.
The addition of a 360 lid was one the brewery thought contributed to the unique thinking individuals in attendance; with Mr Moroney saying it was the first time a can of beer has had this design in Australia.
“It’s about it all coming together,” he said.
Emergence Creative event organiser Mat Lewis said the event needed more doers than enablers, appreciating the extent to which Colonial and Mr Moroney have become involved in the festival.
“There’s a legacy behind each event and Rich is well on his way to being one of this festival’s” Mr Lewis said.
The combination of artists, brewery and region is one which Mr Moroney and Mr Lewis believed epitomised the message of the festival, with creative outlets joining forces to symbolise the convergence of a creative mindset.
Colonial Brewery will continue this creative partnership by hosting a series of illustrative workshops throughout the festival.
