VOCAL empowerment is being offered by local singing star Katie J White in her newest project Sing Sisters, an all female community singing group.
Ms White is on the look out for anyone with an interest in honing their skills and looking for fun to join in on the action.
She started the group as a means for women to join together and express themselves, not wanting a particular sound, but rather utilising the group as a means for ladies to vent their feelings into song as a therapeutic outlet.
She invites participants to get back to their roots and let their souls sing.
“We share our vulnerabilities and our strengths,” Ms White said.
“All we are left with is this beautiful, powerful sound.”
In the group, participants will do warm ups and learn songs, practising until the group reaches a level of performance ability without necessarily having to perform in front of others.
Ms White said it is for any age and any type of woman, with the group having the potentially to emotionally heal those in need of an outlet.
Primarily for Ms White, the group is for coming together as women and having fun.
The group meets on Tuesdays from 4.30 to 5.30pm in the church building at the Community Centre.
Each session is $10.
