The withdrawal of funds by the federal government supporting the school chaplaincy program has had a knock-on effect at Margaret River Primary School, stalling the re-opening of the school’s breakfast program, which had been administered by past chaplains.
However, two local white knights have stepped into the breach to support the breakfast club and assist it to find its feet early in the new school year.
The Margaret River Uniting Church has taken over the day to day running of the Friday morning Breakfast Club, which meets in the school kitchen.
Southern Crust Pizza Margaret River provided the club with a cash donation of $400 to assist with the purchasing of resource items for the new year.
School deputy principal Campbell Madden said it was another shining example of community support for the school’s programs and he sincerely thanked both organizations for their support, along with ongoing sponsors; IGA Margaret River, Bannister Downs, Coles Margaret River and Food Bank.
