AN engaging woman with a sharp mind takes the forefront of Margaret River Senior High School’s newest production Dead White Males.
The comical, satirical play by David Williamson revolves around Angela Judd, the 19 year old protagonist who isn’t afraid to put men in their place, particularly William Shakespeare when he materialises into 2015.
While she argues with Shakespeare, Angela becomes besotted by her literary theory lecturer Doctor Grant Swain, the villain of the piece.
This comedy is bound to intrigue its audience, with Williamson attacking post structuralism and asks is the writer really dead and does human nature even exist?
“This year our HOLA of English Mr Ed Lacy will take on an acting part to support our student cast. The rest of the cast is made up of Year 10, 11 and 12 students who are working tirelessly on their challenging roles,” director Mem McCormack said.
With students rehearsing at all hours for the piece, after school, in class and on weekends, the performance is one not to be missed.
“The quality and standard of the students work is well worth a watch,” Ms McCormack said.
The play runs from March 24-25 at 7pm at the school auditorium.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and are now available from the front office of the school.
