A 27-year-old woman had a narrow escape when a pole speared through the windscreen of her car after she crashed into a chain link fence in Newman on Wednesday.
Her silver Holden Barina was travelling south on Fortescue Avenue around 11pm when it veered off the road and crashed into the fence near the corner of Newman Drive in Newman.
One of the metal poles struck the bonnet before penetrating both front and rear windscreens, passing to the left of the female driver, missing her by about 10-15 centimetres.
Police allege the driver failed a breath test.
She was issued with a disqualification notice for two months and will be summonsed for careless driving and not displaying P plates.
The driver is due to appear in the Newman Magistrates Court on April 14.
