THE Department of Transport has warned boat users to make sure they are booking a berth properly.
The warning comes after the department was made aware of someone being left out of pocket after making a payment for vessel accommodation using portbooker.com website.
Department of Transport general manager Steve Jenkins said the agency had no affiliation with any online booking agents and people should go directly with the appropriate agent.
Mr Jenkins said this could be done by contacting the closest regional office.
“Unfortunately, further enquiries made with marina operators in other states have revealed several other cases where people had booked and paid for a berth that the marina operator wasn’t aware of,” Mr Jenkins said.
