A novel about a fun surf adventure with a fresh perspective on life is adding to the surf adventures of others in Margaret River.
Douglas Cooney, author of Makara-A Taste of Freedom has promised to donate 10 per cent of all profits from the novel to the Margaret River Surfrider Foundation.
Due to the support shown to him during the fundraising campaign to launch the novel from paper to print, Cooney said he couldn’t wait to contribute to an organisation as passionate about the ocean as himself.
“I think it’s fantastic to give back,” Cooney said.
What took two years to create from pen to paper, Cooney said the topics the novel explored such as letting go, slowing life down, trust, freedom, conscious celebration and more resonated with the town.
Cooney said for his first creative project, the response from the community had been overwhelming.
“It's phenomenal to put your heart and soul into something creative and then have people actually enjoy it,” Cooney said.
“I am truly grateful for all the support and enthusiasm from the local community.”
Cooney will be selling copies of the book this Sunday at the Town Square Markets from 8am-12pm.
The book can also be purchased online at vividpublishing.com.au/makara or by contacting Cooney directly on 0425 331 925.
