ESPERANCE police have seized more than $21,000 in cash, 500 grams of cannabis and 2 grams of crystalline rock believed to be methamphetamine after stopping a driver they believed was acting suspiciously.
Officer in charge of the Esperance Police Station Senior Sergeant Richard Moore said about 5.20pm on Monday, police stopped a driver who was allegedly driving suspiciously on Calman Street and Pink Lake Road in Nulsen.
After speaking with the driver, police searched his vehicle and found about half a kilogram of cannabis sealed in a cryovac plastic bag, 2 grams of a white crystalline rock believed to be methamphetamine and more than $21, 000 in cash. Senior Sergeant Moore said the money was suspected to be drug-related money.
The offender was searched and police located a Taser device hidden in his clothing.
Esperance detectives were called and the 52-year-old Nulsen man was charged with possessing a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply (cannabis); possessing a prohibited drug (methamphetamine), two counts of possessing a prohibited drug (cannabis), two counts of possessing drug paraphernalia with detectable traces of a prohibited drug, unlawful possession (cash) and possessing prohibited weapon.
The man will appear in Esperance Magistrate Court on May 6.
