Australian pop star Sia Furler is ready to ditch her blonde wig and says she has already worked out what her new "disguise" will be.
In a radio interview with 2DayFM on Tuesday afternoon, Furler told hosts Maz Compton and Dan Debuf the time was right for the wig to be relegated to pop music's annals.
"As I had hoped and planned, it's the blonde bob that's become iconic," she said, adding that her new look would be inspired by her new album, This Is Acting.
"I am going to do prosthetics, so I'm going to alter my face slightly, so you can't really peg if I have had surgery, if I have had a little bit of weird surgery.
"I'm not going to do any kind of whacky stuff, I am still going to look like a human being."
In the current issue of American magazine Interview, the Adelaide-born performer said her decision to create a persona around her blonde wig was inspired by the late Amy Winehouse.
"I had the idea that, well, if Amy Winehouse had been the bouffant, maybe I was the blonde bob."
She also revealed that hiding her face under the blonde wig was also a strategy to combat the fickleness of pop music.
"I'm 39, and I would like to be able to make great pop music for another 20 years. And it feels like creating a sort of inanimate blonde bob and allowing other people to play the role of the pop singer, it affords me a little bit more freedom in terms of my expiration date," she told the magazine.
She also told 2DayFM her creative partnership with 12-year old Dance Moms star Maddie Ziegler has come to an end. The pair collaborated for a number of film clips and red carpet appearances together however Furler confirmed she has since written a film script for the aspiring actor.
On Tuesday morning Furler performed on Sunrise, refusing to show her face by wearing her now trademark, oversized wig.
The strategy appears to be working. Last year BRW magazine ranked her the 97th richest Australian under the age of 40 with a net worth of $20 million.
