The Cowaramup Bakery has opened its tip jars to help their friend Geoff White who was seriously injured during the Wallcliffe Road crash on Monday morning.
After just a few days the tip jar is overflowing thanks to the generosity of the Cowaramup community who have donated hundreds of dollars.
All of the money collected will be donated to Mr White’s partner, Allison Allen, who has been an employee of the bakery since it opened.
Ms Allen was working with Cowaramup Bakery owner Jason Aldus when they heard the news of the crash.
“We just got in the car and went straight to him,” Mr Aldus said.
After seeing the wreckage of the two vehicles Mr Aldus could not believe both drivers survived the crash.
“They are very lucky men,” Mr Aldus said.
Mr White was airlifted to Perth Royal Hospital trauma unit after being rescued from the wreckage.
He has been undergoing surgery for extensive injuries to half of his body.
“Her [Ms Allen's] daughter drove her straight up to Perth and she has been there since.”
Mr Aldus put Ms Allen up in a hotel for a few nights and his staff had the idea to donate their tip jar money to their friend and colleague.
“The girls had about $600 in there saved up,” Mr Aldus said.
“People soon started asking if there was another way to donate so we asked her daughter to set up a bank account.
“I’m not a surgeon and none of us are trauma specialists but we can send money to help.”
With Mr White being self-employed the donations have been greatly appreciated by Ms Allen who, Mr Aldus said, had been overwhelmed by the generosity of the community.
“She’s the nicest human being I've met,” he said.
“We miss them both and it’s just not the same without them here."
Donations for Geoff and Allison can be left at the Cowaramup Bakery or by bank transfer. Account details are located on the Cowaramup Bakery Facebook page.
