THE Mandurah Magic had a weekend to forget with both the men and women going down to the Joondalup Wolves on Saturday at the Joondalup Basketball Stadium on Saturday night.
The Magic men were no match for the Wolves going down by a huge 41 points, 128 to 87.
Joondalup set up the win in a 45-point opening term in which the Magic could only manage 16.
The Magic reduced the deficit to 25 points at half-time but that was the closest they would get with Joondalup showing why they are one of the strongest teams in the competition with eight wins and two losses.
The loss sees the Magic stay in fifth with seven wins and four losses and will face another tough challenge this Saturday at home when they face the fourth-placed Willetton (8-3).
The Magic’s defence and offence will have to improve drastically if they are to bounce back.
Joondalup had seven players score double figures with Trian Iliadis leading the way with 19.
Paul Hafford top-scored with 18 points for the Magic.
The women’s side has dropped to fourth on the ladder following a 19-point loss to the Wolves.
Although the Magic led by three points in a tight contest at quarter-time, the Wolves piled on 50 points to 29 in the next two periods and eventually won 73-54.
Casey Mihovilovich top-scored for the Magic with 17 points and added seven rebounds and four steals to her stat sheet.
Emma Klasztorny was big on the boards collecting 10 rebounds to go with six points and seven turnovers.
Import Peyton Davis made her debut for the Magic shooting 3-13 from the field to finish with six points, eight rebounds and five fouls.
The win has put the Wolves into third place with a 7-1 record in the ladder while the Magic has slipped to fourth spot with an 8-2 record.
The Magic will have another tough game against Willetton (8-1) on Saturday night.
