A love of the Nepalese people and of the destination itself has driven Stellar Fraser to join others in the community to think outside the box to raise funds for the Nepalese plight after a series of earthquakes hit the country.
Four weeks ago she made the decision to create a photographic exhibition where funds raised from selling her artistic work would be put towards healing the country.
Fraser will sell images she has taken in Nepal as well as various others from around the world.
From her Nepal collection sold, 65 per cent of the profits will be donated to Oxfam, while with her other themed creations, 80 per cent will go to the Happiness Orphanage in Kathmandu.
Fraser said the orphanage had been running for 15 years and did amazing work in their establishment as well as in the community around them.
Fraser said she had been to Nepal twice, once in 1992 and the other in 2012, hiking each time, taking in the mountain landscape and staying in some of the villages of the area.
It was the people that drew you into the landscape Fraser said, as they didn’t ask or require anything, they just lived how they deemed fit.
Unable to provide hands on assistance, it was this passion that saw Fraser’s idea snowball, approaching local businesses to support the exhibition through donating their services, product or time.
She said she was overwhelmed by how much support she received from the community.
Aspiring to raise $10,000, Fraser will host the opening of her exhibition on May 30 at the Garage Gallery in Nannup, open until June 1.
There will be drinks, raffle tickets and a DJ from 5pm.
