If your thumb is cramping from "swiping left” on Tinder, and e-Harmony is looking like e-Hell then Muster Bar is the place for you on May 27.
Margaret River's resident cupid, Miss Meiko, is planning to bring a little “amore” to Wednesday night with her first South West Speed Dating Event which will bring out the guys to end complaints about the Margaret River "man-drought".
“I don’t think there is a man drought out there, I think guys are just a bit shy to head out,” Miss Meiko said.
“This event is a chance for the guys to come out, and I know the ladies are keen and ready.”
Currently on the dating scene herself Miss Meiko says it can be tough out there, but events like this can be fun for people looking for friends, or a something more serious.
“It’s not easy to meet people in a fun, relaxed atmosphere,” she said.
“But bring a friend or two for moral support and it will be lots of fun.”
In speed dating the women sit at tables while the men rotate around every four minutes to make a first impression.
If you make a connection you can arrange to meet later somewhere a little more private.
Miss Meiko is studying to become a dating adviser and has some advice for the guys and girls looking for love which may help on the night.
“Women tend to think that all the guys are supposed to approach them, but ladies can step up and introduce themselves,” she said.
“There’s no harm in saying hi to a guy.”
“It’s the hardest thing for a guy to approach a woman because women are not always approachable.”
For the lads she recommends leaving the pick up lines at home, but most importantly be yourself.
“The worst way is to try and impose something you are not,” Miss Meiko said.
“If you throw out a line, it’s just cheesy.”
If the event proves to be a success Miss Meiko plans to host more evenings for different age groups.
People interested in taking part are encouraged to get in quick as tickets are selling out fast.
