The couple, who married in 2005 after two years of dating, were constant fodder for the tabloids.
While their 15-year age gap generated a seemingly endless series of op-eds on "the rise of the cougar" and whether it was weird for Demi's daughter Rumer Willis to have a step-dad who could have been her brother, all good things must come to pass and, in 2012, Kutcher and Moore announced they had filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences".
But, when the celebrity news gods close a door they open a window, and now there is a new crop of celebrity couples being papped on dinner dates to Mr Chow.
To celebrate this changing of the guard, The New York Daily News has released a list of the power couples joining the likes of Beyonce and Jay Z, and Brad and Ange among the ranks of Hollywood's paired-off elite.
George, 53, and Amal Clooney, 37, topped their list. The couple, who married in Venice last year, earned the top spot for combining strong sartorial choices on the red carpet with flourishing careers and charity work.
Next was Kim Kardashian, 34, and Kanye West, 37. With a combined net worth of $US215 million ($275 million), Kimye certainly make a lot of money from sharing every facet of their relationship with their followers on Instagram, and the viewer's of Kim's reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
Sports Illustrated model Chrissy Teigan, 29, and singer John Legend, 36, ranked third. Legend appeared with Teigan in the video for his song All of Me,
A relatively new couple, Sofia Vergara, 42, and Joe Manganiello, 38, snuck into fourth spot. The Modern Family actress became engaged to the Magic Mike star over Christmas after six months of dating.
Rounding out the five were Teigan's colleague Sports Illustrated model Irina Shayk, 29, and her Oscar-nominated beau Bradley Cooper, 40, who have been spotted during PDA sessions around New York and London over the last month, although nothing has been confirmed.

Old mate Ashton has found love again, this time with his That '70s Show co-star Mila Kunis. The couple started dating in April 2012 and Kunis gave birth to their first child, daughter Wyatt Isabelle, in October last year.

What we would give to be a fly on the wall in the Apatow-Mann household.
