SITTING in a Sydney apartment attempting to sort through work emails sounds like the lifestyle of the well established business person, but for Morgan Bain, it is part and parcel of his rise to Australian music stardom.
The twenty year old Perth singer has made his name on the national circuit from the age of 15 when he first started touring.
An old soul trapped in a young musician’s body, the goal of Bain is to re-introduce the new generation of Australians to classic music styles in a contemporary manner.
Bain’s latest offerings which he will take to Settlers Tavern are self described as dark, moody and cinematic in their creation, finding a niche where soul music has his distinctly unique spin.
Bain believed if people could feel his music, then he has done his job to the utmost, wishing to evoke a crowd reaction for not only the music, but the message behind it.
A multiple Western Australian Music Industry award winner with countless other acclaims to his name, Bain said every victory was a surprise.
By starting his career so early, he said he was forced to grow up quickly to adapt to his changing environments.
Bain said he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Playing music throughout his childhood and writing his first song at the tender age of 7, Bain said he couldn’t see himself pursuing any other lifestyle.
The music room at his school was a haven, with his pursuit of creative subjects driving him further into his career early on.
“I definitely want longevity,” Bain said.
“I’ll sit down with a guitar and it’ll just pour out of me; it’s very natural… it’s how I want to be writing.”
Inspired by what he is living, the sky is the limit for where Bain sees himself, with reality grounding him to realise little steps make the path to his grand plans.
The South West has served as an inspiration point to the multi-instrumentalist, with the Boranup Forest acting as the background for a recent video clip ‘Unkind’.
Now accompanied by a support band of fellow young musicians, the power of the Bain sound was reaching its full potential, with Bain recruiting the team based on their desire to rehearse and perfect the music as much as himself.
Bain and his band will bring their soulful tones to Settlers Tavern on June 6, with Bain also taking to the stage on June 7 for a relaxed Sunday session.
