GNARABAR’S face lift will soon be revealed when the Margaret River region’s newest establishment opens in early August.
Renamed The Common, the venue will comprise of a bar and bistro located at the Margarets Beach Resort complex in Gnarabup.
Margaret River Hospitality Group managing director Anthony Janssen said the definition of ‘common’ drew them to the name, encapsulating everything they wanted the reinvented venue to be.
Featuring a $300,000 fit out, it will comprise of a new alfresco deck and furniture made from recycled timber Mr Janssen said.
“The Common is ultimately a place for locals to eat, drink and hang out, that welcomes families and visitors alike,” Mr Janssen said.
“We’re really looking forward to reopening what was our first venue and the original vision behind the MRHG – creating quality hospitality experiences.”
MRHG executive chef Tony Howell said Andy Foulsham would head the kitchen team at The Common.
“Andrew is a young gun of a chef and one I have huge confidence in as head chef for The Common,” Howell said.
Previously working at Voyager and Aravina Estate, Mr Foulsham said the menu would take a more casual approach to dining, with share plates and take away options the plan for the future.
He said the meals would be simple, but done well, with a plan to use a mix of local and national ingredients.
“We just really want people to come and check it out,” Mr Foulsham said.
“It gives them a different option rather than just going to the main street in town.”
It will be open seven days per week from 4pm Monday to Friday, and from 12pm on weekends in off peak season and will be open seven days per week from 12pm in peak season.
