The sound of squelching mud and exhausted bodies filled the Bootleg Brewery surrounds as hundreds proved they were tough enough to take on an extreme obstacle course.
Some came to have fun, others just to see if they could make it, dozens more were probably dragged there by their friends but all got down and dirty as they were baptised in icy cold water and muddy bogs.
The 12 kilometre course saw people take on more than 40 obstacles including clambering through cargo nets, hopping through tyres, climbing shipping containers and leaping over hay bales to reach the finish line.
Covered in mud there are no strangers as alliances were formed to make sure every one who was struggling could make it through.
Watching people boost up someone struggling or holding up a cargo net to help someone clamber through was a strong reminder of the South West spirit.
After completing the course burgers and beers were on offer to replace the energy spent on the course, but many could not wait to finish their burger and try their luck at the shorter 5km course in the afternoon.
