FOOTBALL Margaret River hosted Dalyellup on Sunday, which acted as a dress rehearsal for the semi-final of the South West cup game to be held in a few weeks time.
Unfortunately Margaret River once again was missing players through injuries and suspensions.
Dalyellup started the game far more switched on, were first to the ball and dominated proceedings, a defensive mistake allowing the visitors to take the lead and before long it was 3-0.
It was looking like it was going to be a real blow-out, but to the home team’s credit they continued to battle and delivered a deserved goal back from a corner which was drilled into the net by Gregor Small.
The second half saw a far more competitive game and Dalyellup knew they were now in a game and for the first time in the match were under pressure.
Unfortunately they couldn’t find a way through and the visitors increased their lead from a penalty.
This did not deter the local side and a fantastic long range strike from Kade Bougoure playing his last game before he heads to the United States on a soccer scholarship got the home team back into it.
As they poured forward looking for a third they got caught on the counter attack and Dalyellup notched their fifth.
The final score was Margaret River 2, Dalyellup 5.
The visitors thoroughly deserved their victory and Margaret River need to get back to basics and hopefully turn their season around.
