FALCON Primary School is shining bright after receiving top marks in a Department of Education search for unique, innovative, and outstanding public schools.
It was announced last week that the local school was a runner-up in the Our School’s a Star competition, after its video on how the school attends to the local environment grabbed the attention of adjudicators.
“When we thought about what made our school special, we realised we do a lot for the environment without realising it,” the school’s promotional officer Leslie Sinagra said.
“We work with the community to help preserve the environment.
“We live next to this beautiful pristine beach and we want it to stay that way.”
The school environmental efforts include a greenhouse, a recycling program, a light monitor program, solar panels, a tree planting program and a wind turbine.
