A man and woman injured in a car-versus-tree crash last Wednesday afternoon are both in a stable condition at Royal Perth Hospital.
The pair, both in their twenties, were airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital after their red Holden Jackaroo collided with a tree on Rocky Road.
A local farmer discovered the crashed car as he was checking on his cattle and described the wreck as the “worst he had ever seen”.
“The car was on its side when I found it,” he said.
“The guy was on the ground and the girl was still inside. I didn’t want to move her.
"I ran up the road and got help from a neighbour."
When the farmer arrived on the male occupant was lying face down on the ground.
While he couldn't understand much of what the man was saying he made out, "My girl is inside."
"It was amazing anyone survived," the farmer said.
"The car was a wreck. I don't know how they got out.
Margaret River and Augusta Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service arrived on the scene and administered first aid with St John paramedics and RAC Rescue Chopper following closely behind.
The pair were conscious during transportation and were checked for spinal injuries.
