A tip off from the public has led to the safe return of close to $30,000 worth of tools stolen from a Cowaramup tradie over the weekend.
Two tool chests, heavy mechanical tools, hand tools, air tools including a 3/4” Cat/blue point rattle gun, an Hitachi cordless drill and grinder as well as a range of Snap-on and Repco hand tools were taken leaving the tradie unable to work.
A $2000 reward was offered for any information that would lead to the return of his tools and, following up on information provided, police have charged a 32-year-old Margaret River man with the theft, along with drug offences yesterday.
The man will appear in Bunbury District Court today.
Margaret River Police are praising the actions of the community for their assistance in this case.
"It was a community tip off and we're very grateful for the assistance," Sergeant Brett Cassidy said.
"It was a prompt resolution for a very serious act. We're talking about $30,000 worth of tools.
"The reward may have played a small part in getting the information but if anyone has information about stolen goods please contact us at the station."
WA Diesel Services wants to thank the community for spreading the word about the theft on social media and helping get their employee's tools returned.
