A woman who allegedly ran amok at a mining office in the Perth Airport precinct has been extracted from a roof space where she was hiding and has been taken, screaming, into an ambulance.
It is understood she is being taken for a mental health assessment.
Police negotiators rushed to the office in George Wiencke Drive after a female employee was said to have run amok, hidden in a roof space and threatened to kill.
It is understood that police had to cut their way into the office roof space. She was eventually freed when the ceiling was cut and she fell safely onto crash pads.
Employees were evacuated from the Byrnecut Mining offices, where is it understood the woman had initially been roaming the offices.
Around 100 employees were kept behind police barricades and unable to access the office or car park. They have since been allowed back into the building.
An employee, who didn't want to be named, said that there had been concerns because the woman was licensed for explosives.
Staff first tried to restrain the woman who allegedly assaulted them and then hid in the building, the employee said.
Police established contact and began negotiations. It is understood the woman then accessed the roof space through the ceiling of a toilet.
The Bomb Squad and about 40 police officers were on site.
The woman was said to be about 30 and from Queensland and it was understood she was in Perth for an induction course at Byrnecut Mining.
Byrnecut is a contract mining company that employs more than 2500 people in long term mine development and production contracts among other services.
