DRIVERS be warned, don't mess with the South West Traffic police.
Late on Wednesday afternoon a Facebook post appeared on the South West District - WA Police reminding drivers that officers from the Traffic division do indeed police regions further south than Busselton.
A 33-year-old Margaret River man was clocked by a mobile patrol travelling 124 kilometres and hour in an 80 kilometre an hour zone while travelling near Carbanup River.
NOTE: The original police post incorrectly has the speed as 142 kilometres an hour instead of 124.
The recommended penalty for being 44 kilometres an hour over the speed limit is a $1000 fine and seven demerit points.
Once a driver is travelling 45 kilometres an hour over the speed limit, Western Australia's hoon laws come into effect and the vehicle gets confiscated for a month.
