LAWN Bowls season was declared officially open on October 4 when the Margaret River Bowling Club took to their green for a drawn mixed bowls event.
Members of the club have been busy during the winter months on several major projects to enhance the top green.
New shelters have been made and erected between the two greens providing improved protection from the sun and also giving a clear view of both greens from the spectator’s verandah.
This Sunday’s event saw first place go to Toni King, Jeff O' Brien and Karen Sanday.
Losing their last game by only one point, second place went to the team of Barry Coffey, Mark Ridge and Nerolie Evershed.
Third place getters were Mark Langton, Winston Buckenara and Ronlea Chick.
Last Friday's pairs competition was won by Greg Bussell and Mike Hartnettn with Jeff Eastcott and John Chadwick gaining second place.
The Friday's Pairs Competition has been ongoing throughout the year and drew a strong field of 22 players on September 25.
The winning team was Mary Bussell and Alan Gordin. Pat Sutton and Nerolie Evershed gained second place with Barry Coffey and Dominic Fonzarelli in third.
The club also dabbles into corporate bowls, welcoming the community to take part on November 4.
Interested players are encouraged to start organising their teams now.
