MARGARET River residents, community groups and businesses are getting their hands dirty this weekend to make a positive impact on South West beaches.
As a part of the West Australian Beach Clean Up, the event is seeking to engage 1500 volunteers to take the plunge and spend some time looking after our renowned coast line.
Last year 137 beaches across WA were cleaned up as part of the event, with 87,159 pieces of rubbish, weighing over 5,600kg removed from the coastline.
“Our aim this year is to further grow this event, getting more people involved and even more beaches cleaned up,” Tangaroa Blue event organiser Renee Mouritz said.
Volunteers are invited to register as an individual or as a group and nominate a beach or stretch of coastline they will clean up over the clean up weekend.
All materials, volunteer insurance and logistical support will be provided, with Tangaroa Blue requesting the assistance of energy and many hands to help remove marine debris from the coast.
