THE Margaret River Chocolate Company had mouths watering at Perth Royal Show’s chocolate competition, winning seven gold and four silver medals.
Among the gold was a newly-created sea-salted caramel truffle, several flavoured gourmet bars including orange, mint, macadamia and fruit and nut, and its famous Irish cream truffle.
The company’s praline hearts, dark cherry delights, redgum honey crunch, and gourmet truffle selection box won silver medals.
Supervisor Deb Ives said the new sea-salted caramels, which use local cream, butter and French sea salt, are “proving to be a hit” with customers.
The Margaret River Chocolate Company opened a new store in Murray Street, Perth earlier this year and has increased chocolate production. Spokesman Martin Black said despite its growth, the company remained committed to being a boutique company where innovation and quality were paramount.
He said it was important to strive for continual improvement and this was reflected in success at Perth Royal Show for more than a decade.
“Each year these competitions give our chocolatiers an opportunity to shine and display their creativity and commitment to quality,” Mr Black said.
